Miss Chapko has a Master degree in Studio Art from Suny New Paltz. She has enjoyed teaching art for several years to students in grades Pre-K through 6. In May 2007, Miss Chapko had her own art show that included 21 large paintings on different cultures and faiths. She was commissioned to paint three large oil paintings by the Cohoes Elementary School’s Enrichment Program. A photograph of hers was selected for the Light Impression Show in Rochester.
Her goal is to help students appreciate the art and design that surrounds us, and to provide meaningful creative experiences for them. Art is a significant language of childhood and is extremely important to a child’s development. The hands on experiences of art helps children become imaginative and responsive adults. When she plan art lessons she focuses on the following fundamental aspects of art education: 1.Developing student skills in the use of tools and materials. 2. Demonstrating the correct use of art terminology. 3. Learning about art history. 4. Assisting students in developing their individual style in solving art problems.
“I feel that it is important for me to be a Christian role model for my students. Teaching at a Catholic School makes me feel as if we are all a family because of the caring environment in our school. Our school is safe and is a secure Christian atmosphere. Each child is given the opportunity to succeed while being encouraged to welcome the diversity of races and abilities found in our school.”
I teach from the New York State Standards which will give your child a strong art background. We have had several students winners in different art contests. Your child will love art at St. Jude the Apostle School.
