PCA Meeting – The October 5th virtual PCA meeting was very successful in getting new fundraising ideas discussed. John  Dalmata briefed us on the ideas his committee has for doing a pick-up style Wing Wars this year; much like the format used for the International Food Festival. Some new ideas that were brought up were a holiday gift wrapping day, wreath/poinsettia sale, monthly raffle of large ticket items, online parties (Tastefylly Simple, Party Lite, etc), restaurant fundreisers, a school mask sale, and a family portrait day. If you think you can contribute to any of the fundraisers mentioned or have ideas for others, please contact our President, Analise Agy at aagy1031@gmail.com . We want to welcome and show our appreciation to Jess DiFiore for taking on the role of Vice President! We are still in need of a secretary and media specialist. If you are interested please contact Analise. Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 2nd at 6:00Pm. We will send a virtual invite to everyone closer to the date. We hope to see you all there!

“From the Nurse”  (As of 10/5/2020)

Please refer to the list of symptoms, put out by the Department of Health, on your daily questionnaire before sending your child to school.  If your child has any one of the symptoms listed, please keep them home and call your provider for an appointment. If the student is sent to school and presents with any of the symptoms listed, they will need to be picked up promptly.  To return to school, the student will need to have a note from the provider with a diagnosis listed.

If the diagnosis is Upper Respiratory Infection or Viral Gastroenteritis the student will also need to have a negative covid test to return.   There is the option of 10 day quarantine with a provider note & diagnosis, if a covid test is not done.

The student will need to be symptom free for 24 hours without any medication assistance in order to return.

  • Temperature 100.0 or higher
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Congestion or Runny nose
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or Vomiting
  • Muscle or Body aches
  • Fatigue
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Trouble breathing
  • Stomach ache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Trouble breathing
  • Stomach ache

ALL students need to be symptom free upon returning regardless of your choice.

Regarding current student physical & Immunization forms for this year 2020-2021, I am aware that some birthdays are in the late Fall, and physicals are done at that time.  Please send in a note, or call with the ‘physical date’ appointment, so this can be documented.  NYS requires that students in grades: Pre K, K, 1,3 & 5, along with ‘new student enrollments’ all have up to date physicals and immunization forms sent to their school. These forms also help SJS know if there are any changes (allergies, asthma) with your child.   Please submit these forms to SJS, attention Nurse.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!

Thank you for all your help & understanding!

Halloween at St. Jude the Apostle School-Friday, October 30th – Unfortunately, we will not be able to have our traditional Halloween Parade and family filled classroom parties, but we will still celebrate!

K-6 – This is an out-of-uniform day for the children. Costumes may be brought to school but the costume must be able to fit over their clothing. The children will not be allowed to change into a costume. Your child may also choose to just come in Halloween colors and/or themed clothing. NO hair color, face paint or crazy hair styles please.

Pre-K – Students should arrive to school wearing a costume that is comfortable enough to leave on for the entire day OR in Halloween themed clothing. They will not be able to change into a costume.

Please take care in purchasing costumes that children can sit at their desk/table in the classroom and at lunchtime. Teachers will arrange small classroom parties with snacks and activities during the day at a time that is convenient with their class’ schedule. Families will not be permitted in the building for the class parties. Mrs. Hoffay will provide a Zoom invite to each classroom teacher which will project Mrs. Hoffay walking around to each classroom-a virtual parade of sorts!
