From the Nurses Desk – Please be aware that strep throat and the stomach bug are going around our schools.   If your child/children are complaining of not feeling well, please keep them home and contact their pediatrician for diagnosis & treatment.   Make sure your child is feeling better before having them return to school. If they still have a low grade fever, increased tiredness, or still exhibiting symptoms of illness, they should continue to stay home.  This recommendation has also been asked of our staff.

This week I went to all the classrooms (pk-6) reviewing proper hand washing, covering of the mouth & nose when coughing and sneezing, and the importance of keeping fingers & toys, along with other objects out of the mouth.  We went over singing the alphabet or happy birthday while washing our hands, making the time close to 20 seconds.  Lastly, we discussed not sharing food and drinks with our friends.

We are monitoring the health of our staff & students on a regular basis.  We are addressing anyone that shows signs of illness.  For students that are absent, we are calling or emailing to see if they are experiencing any illness resulting in them being absent.

Again, we continue to work closely with the CSO and Wynantskill UFSD, as well as obtaining information from NYSDOH to stay up to date on all current matters.

Thank you for your cooperation!
