Wing War 16 – Dalmata, Kara Schneible, and Paul Moore want YOU to help make this event a huge success. Come have fun and help raise money for St. Jude the Apostle School Tuition Assistance Program. Questions please contact Kara at [email protected].

Go to https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/30E0F44A8AF2BA4FA7-wing to sign up for some service commitment hours and have fun doing it at our Wing War.

If you need tickets to attend go to Capital Region Wing War 16.

The following is required by The New York State Health Department

  • Physical/Immunization Records – Within 14 days of the first day of school or day care – children must receive the first age-appropriate dose in each immunization series to attend or remain in school or day care.
  • Within 30 days after the first day of school or day care – parents or guardians must show that they have appointments for the next required follow-up doses for their child. Deadlines for follow-up doses depend on the vaccine.

If you have not sent in any of the above please do so as soon as possible.

Save Around Book – Each family should have received a Save Around Book. This is a sample for you to look at. You may purchase the book, sell the book or return the book. If you return the book please place it back in the envelope so we know who returned them and you will not be charged in FACTS.  These books make great gifts! Start your Christmas shopping now! All orders and books need to be returned no later than Friday, 11/8/19.

A gift for Life – Each classroom was given a baby bottle to fill with currency and coins. The money will be donated to Community Maternity Services in Albany to offer a helping hand to woman and their babies. The bottles will be collected on Monday, October 28th.  Thank you and God Bless.

Catapult Learning Parent Workshop – The Catholic School Office, in partnership with Catapult Learning, will be presenting a one-hour workshop for parents entitled, “Building Responsibility and Resiliency in Children.”

Parents have the option of attending the workshop on November 6th at 6:30 pm at St. Mary’s School in Ballston Spa, or on November 12th at 6:30 pm at All Saints Catholic Academy in Albany.

Admission is free and open to all parents and guardians of our students.

October School Service Project – This month we will be collecting items for the St. Joseph Church Food Pantry in South Troy. We will be collecting the following items until 10/31. Thank you!

Shampoo & Conditioner                     Soap

Toothpaste & Toothbrushes                Deodorant

Dental Floss

Snow Days/Delays – The policies we follow at St. Jude the Apostle School for snow days and delays will be communicated to families using the following methods as soon as a decision is made:

  1. Announcement on all LOCAL radio and television stations along with the websites associated with those stations (WNYT, WRGB, WTEN, The Times Union, FLY 92, B95.5, WGNA, The River, etc.)
  2. A “SwiftK12” email AND text blast will be sent to all families (phone calls WILL NOT be made). Forms were sent home for any changes (phone/email)-please return with changes.
  3. Posting on social media (Facebook, Instagram)

In the event of a 2 hour delay, the school doors will be opened at 9:30am. Students should not be dropped off any earlier than 9:30am and should never be left unattended at the front door. For the safety of our faculty and staff, they are not expected to arrive before 9:30am.

It is unlikely SJS will have an early dismissal due to weather; HOWEVER individual school districts may make the decision to close early and will send a bus to pick up students. If your local school district (district of residence) decides to have an early dismissal and your child normally rides the bus, they will be dismissed when the bus arrives. We will do our best to communicate this to you using SwiftK12, but it is truly the responsibility of the parent/guardian to stay connected through local radio, television and websites. Many websites now have the ability to send notifications for a district of your choosing. If you choose to not have your child ride the bus home in the event of an early dismissal by your district, you must communicate this to the school office in a timely manner.

Please know that CASE (Community After School Enrichment Program) is always an option for you and your child. Students are welcome to stay here at school until transportation can be provided. The daily drop-in rate for CASE is $20.

Knights of Columbus (KOC) – The St Jude the Apostle Knights of Columbus has teamed up with 6 Center Redemption Center located at 461 Main Street in Wynantskill to accept qualifying bottle and can donations to support local charities and those in need.

Simply bring your clean, qualifying empties to 6 Center Redemption in Wynantskill and say they are to support the St Jude Knights of Columbus. They’ll do the rest! That’s it!

Thanks for your support.

St. Jude Catholic Community Craft Fair – Saturday, 11/9/19 – 9AM to 3PM – Come visit over 50 vendors, have some food and pictures with Santa. Christmas is around the corner!

Thanksgiving Luncheon – Save the date – Tuesday, 11/26/19 – We will be sending home information soon! Please return the sheet to school no later than Tuesday, 11/19. If you need service commitment hours this is a great way to earn them!

Spirit Monkey Key Chains are still available – If you are still interested in purchasing a Spirit Monkey Key Chain for your child/children please send the order form with $5.00 for each key chain in as soon as possible. We will be selling some fun spirit sticks for the key chains during lunch periods on Fridays, for $1.00 each.
