St. Jude the Apostle Students Getting Back to the Basics of their Faith

What’s inside a church? Do you know where the ambo is? Where is the sanctuary lamp? What’s the difference between a cross and a crucifix? These are the questions that our students are answering in their religion classes with Mrs. Hoffay. After a virtual tour of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the students put to use all they had learned on a scavenger hunt in our St. Jude the Apostle Church. They worked in teams to locate the Tabernacle, Crucifix, ambo, ambry, sanctuary lamp, altar, baptismal font, and the paschal candle. Afterward they had a chance to pose their faith based questions to Father Chichester. Why is the sanctuary lamp red? Does our altar contain remnants of our saints, like the ones we learned about? For the month of October we will be learning about the Rosary.
