5th Grade Homework Assignments

  1. Read every night for 20 to 30 minutes.

  2. Complete a reading summary. A summary is a short retelling of a text. It only includes the most important details. A useful writing strategy to help you write a summary is: “Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST)”. Who is the main character? (Somebody)  What did the main character want? (Wanted) What is the problem (But)  How does the character try to solve the problem? (So)  How does the story end? (Then)

  3. Practice your addition/subtraction and multiplication/division facts each night with the goal of automatic recall.

  4. Practice makes perfect especially in Math! A Math worksheet will be given each night to review concepts learned in class that day!
