Open House – This Sunday, 1/2612:30 to 2:30 PM – Spread the word about our open house. Give a family member, neighbor or friend the flyer that was sent home and if the one of them attends our open house, your child/children will receive a dress down day. (Flyer with the child’s name on the back is needed to be handed in at the open house by the visitor)

Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception – Sunday, 1/26/2020 – 2PM – Join us for the annual mass to start off Catholic Schools week. We will be there in honor of Miss Carol Larkin for her 35 years of service to our schools. Students’ art work will be unveiled following the Mass. Miss Chapko, will be displaying art samples by students from St. Jude the Apostle School in celebration of Catholic Schools week. The Art Exhibit will be at the Empire State Plaza in Albany starting January 26 through January 31. It will be held in the South Concourse at the bottom of the Empire Plaza Concourse area near Madison Avenue stairs entrance.

Catholic Schools Week (for grades K-6) 1/26 to 2/1- Pre-K teachers sent home a schedule with their class.

Monday, 1/27 – Grades K-6 will attend Mass at Catholic Central High School dress uniform required

Tuesday, 1/28 – Class Color Day-Wear your class color top with your PE bottoms

Wednesday, 1/29 – Pajama Day

Thursday, 1/30 – Game/Puzzle Day-Bring your favorite game or puzzle from home

Friday, 1/31 – Sports Day – Wear your PE bottoms with your favorite sports apparel (jersey, t-shirt, hat, etc.)

No Parking In Front of School – There is no parking in front of school. This lane is used for buses and emergency vehicles only. Please use the parking lot when picking up or dropping off your child/children. All children need to be walked into or out of the building by an adult.

LUCK OF THE IRISH RAFFLE – LUCK OF THE IRISH RAFFLE UPDATE:

–  SECOND GRADE is currently the lead with ticket sales!  Which class will win the party?

– Don’t forget to send in your tickets each week with ALL your kids’ names/grades on each of them (front or back).

– We still need many people to sell tickets at February Masses.  Please volunteer!

Drama Club is coming back!  Drama Club will be starting on Thursday, February 27, after school. Rehearsals will run on Thursdays from then through May 28, with the performance on Friday, May 29. Drama Club is open to students in grades 3 through 6. We will be performing the play “The Enchanted Bookshop”. Keep an eye out for more information coming home soon.

Helping Hands – We are still in need of some helping hands during our lunch times. Do you have time to come at 11:30AM and stay till 12:30PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays to help the children during their lunch time? If you need service commitment hours, this counts!

Colonie Center School Bucks –   Do you have receipts from Christmas? Send them to school and we will bring them to Colonie Center for you. Place them in a labeled envelope if you would like them returned. We are currently in 11th place. Let’s move up in the current rankings! For the month of January triple points at all retailers! We need your receipts please!

American Red Cross Babysitting Course – For student’s 11yrs & Older – Being taught by our school nurse, Brenda Vermilya – Forms went home to the 5th and 6th graders. If your child is interested please send the forms back to school with payment. Make all checks payable to Brenda Vermilya.

Read for Ronal McDonald House – We hope you are Reading! Packets went home with each child. There is a calendar in your packet to keep track of your child’s reading. Please fill it in each day and return it in the envelope provided with your child’s first and last name. If you collected any donations for reading please include this in the envelope too. All checks need to be payable to RMHC. Please have everything in by 2/25/2020. Thank you!

If your child has any of the following symptoms, we ask that you keep them home for observation & rest.  Please note that not all students, and adults, are getting a fever with this virus.  If your child has vomiting and/or diarrhea, please keep them home for 24 hours after the symptoms have stopped.

Spirit Monkey Key Chains are still available – If you are still interested in purchasing a Spirit Monkey Key Chain for your child/children please send the order form with $5.00 for each key chain in as soon as possible. We will be selling some fun spirit sticks for the key chains during lunch periods on Fridays, for $1.00 each.

Beacon of Hope Ball – Saturday, 2/29/2020 – 6:00PM to be held at Peter D. Kiernan Plaza, 575 Broadway, Albany. At our annual Beacon of Hope Ball, we recognize an outstanding individual (or couple) from each one of our Catholic school communities who goes above and beyond what is expected of them, giving the immeasurable gift of time and talent. Our schools benefit greatly from the love and dedication of these exceptional individuals! Please join us to honor Mrs. Mary Diehl this year.

Save the Date – Our “Annual Community Service Awards Dinner” will be held at the Franklin Terrace on May 14th, 2020 at 5:30PM. This year’s recipients for the Awards are Mr. & Mrs. John Dalmata. The recipients for the Father James E Clark award are Joe Kruczlnicki and Kristine Hoffay. There is a silent auction, live auction and cash bar. All proceeds from this event go toward supporting the School Tuition Assistance Program and Catholic Education Fund.
