News Notes – September 7, 2018

Welcome to St. Jude the Apostle School 2018-9 school year!

Back to School Night For Parents of Grades Pre K-6 – Wednesday, September 19th at 6:30PM. This is a night for parents only. We will all meet in the Dammann Hall (school gym) for a brief assembly. Parents will then be invited to visit their child/children’s classroom for a 20 minute talk about what is expected for the school year. Parents will be able to visit each child’s classroom. Each family will be given a box of chocolate to sell. Bring your calendars and please stop by the PCA tables to sign up for the various events that will be happening during the school year. Each family in grades K-6 is expected to have 15 hours of service commitment hours completed by May of 2018 or the in lieu of service commitment fee ($1,000.00 for each child) will be added to your tuition bill. Also joining us will be SEFCU. Learn how your child can save money through our school banking. As a reminder we will also be collecting PCA dues

($15.00).

 

Band Demo – On Friday, September 14th at 7:50AM Paul Effman Music will be here to demonstrate to the students the various instruments and lessons available and how to register for band. Parents are welcome to join us for the demonstration.

 

Knights of Columbus All You Can Eat Back to School Breakfast – Sunday, 9/15 the KOC will be hosting their monthly “All You Can Eat” breakfast. Adults-$8.00, children 12 and under $4.00 and children under 5 eat free. Come join us in Dammann Hall (our gym) from 8AM to 11AM to meet our KOC, parishioners and friends for some good food and good times!

 

Virtus Training – Monday, 9/16 at 6:30PM in Dammann Hall (school gym). This training is mandatory for anyone who plans on attending field trips or volunteering in your child’s classroom. If you have already been Virtus trained you do not have to attend. Please pre-register at Virtus.org.

 

Hearts Aflame – Please come join us for a time of joy, fellowship, prayer, and unity. Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger will be celebrating mass, there will be inspirational speakers, activities for children and youth, Eucharistic Adoration & Procession, tours of the shrine and if you register in advance lunch will be available. You may bring lunch, snacks, and water if you prefer. The event will begin at 8:00AM with on-site registration followed by many activities.

 

Fall School Pictures – Friday, September 28 th.  Lifetouch will once again be our picture photographer. All students will be photographed on this day for a year book photo. Dress uniform is required for all students in grades K-6. Pre-K students should also be in uniform.

 

From the Nurse’s Desk – Please remember to have all your medical information in to Mrs. DeBell as soon as possible.

 

St. Jude Catholic Community International Food Festival – Join us on Saturday, September 29th for a fun filled day. There will be children’s games, food from around the world, entertainment, raffles and much more. They are looking for volunteers to help with this event. If you need an hour or two to fill your 15 hour service commitment please call the Parish office 283-1162.
